In-Studio Rehabilitation

What you will see in: "Overcoming Post-Stroke Arm Flexion: A Rehab Perspective"

"My arm tends to bend and stiffen whenever I walk." This is a concern frequently shared by those recovering from a stroke.

In clinical terms, this phenomenon is known as an "associated reaction." There are various theories regarding its underlying causes; for a detailed explanation, please visit this page.

I have compiled a video showcasing the content of a single (90-minute) rehabilitation session aimed at mitigating this phenomenon. If you are interested, please take a look.

Please note: As rehabilitation needs vary depending on the individual, as well as the specific timing and environment, please understand that the approaches shown in this video may not be applicable to everyone.

What you will see in: "Proximal Humeral Fracture Clinical Insights: How We Helped Our Client Adjust the Bedcovers Again"

We have compiled the content of a single (90-minute) rehabilitation session to address the pain and limited shoulder mobility that often persist even after surgery, including a before-and-after comparison of the patient's movement.

Because pain often causes the shoulder on the affected side to elevate (hike up) before the arm even begins to move, it is natural for the movement pattern to differ from what it was before the injury.

We believe that the most critical aspect of rehabilitation is how we address and accommodate this "pain" during treatment. If you are interested, please watch the video.

What you will see in: "Addressing Chronic Left Arm Numbness: A Clinical Case Study on Cervical Herniation"

In this video, we feature a rehabilitation session for a patient struggling with numbness and a heavy sensation in their left arm due to a cervical disc herniation, which has been impacting their efficiency at work.

This video summarizes a single (60-minute) rehabilitation session. When dealing with a cervical herniation, neck movement is obviously important; however, we believe it is equally critical to address the underlying reasons for why the neck is moving in a certain way.

For instance, if the body's balance is disrupted, causing the neck to tilt to the right (as seen before rehabilitation), the herniation often triggers numbness in the left arm. Conversely, when the posture is naturally aligned (as seen after rehabilitation), the numbness in the left arm is much less likely to occur.

This means that even though the condition involves the neck, we sometimes focus our rehabilitation on the feet, which are essential for maintaining overall body balance. If you are interested in this approach, please watch the video.

What you will see in: "Frozen Shoulder Recovery: Integrated Approach for Reaching Behind the Back and Tying an Apron"

There are various underlying causes for the pain associated with adhesive capsulitis of the right shoulder (often referred to as "frozen shoulder"). As the name suggests, many people endure this pain while continuing to work. For more details on this topic, please visit this page (Regional challenges regarding adhesive capsulitis/frozen shoulder).

Tying an apron yourself requires the ability to clasp your hands behind your back. This video summarizes a 60-minute rehabilitation session focused on overcoming the specific movement limitations involved in this task. If you are interested, please take a look.

In-Home Rehabilitation

What you will see in: "Can't Grip a Frying Pan? Recovering Hand Function through Neuro-Rehab | Kazo Reconnect"

After being discharged following a stroke, many patients realize that the movements practiced in the hospital—based on assumptions about their home environment—do not always translate smoothly to reality. If you have experienced challenges moving as you expected after returning home, please know that we also offer home-visit rehabilitation.

In this video, we feature a patient preparing to return to work who requires cooking skills. Their challenge was: "I can manage to use a frying pan, but I need to be more efficient to handle the demands of my job." We have summarized the content of two rehabilitation sessions (conducted once a week) aimed at resolving this issue.

If you are interested, please take a look.

Body Care & Conditioning

What you will see in: "Improving Body Alignment for Scoliosis"

There are various types of scoliosis. Habitual movement patterns in your daily life may potentially intensify the spinal curvature. If left unaddressed, these patterns may lead to further deformation of structures such as the intervertebral discs as you age, potentially worsening "degenerative scoliosis."

From a preventative perspective, I invite you to watch this 40-minute conditioning session.

What you will see in: "Relieving Hip Pain When Bending Knees in the Bath"

Soaking in a warm bath is the perfect way to unwind at the end of a long day. However, for some, this relaxing time is interrupted by pain the moment they try to lift their legs. This video features a conditioning case addressing this specific concern.

Hip joint movement involves a wide variety of patterns. Because the necessary conditioning depends on which specific movements are causing discomfort, we believe it is essential to tailor our approach to each individual's unique needs. In this video, you can see the client joyfully lifting both legs without pain after the session. We have summarized the key points of this 40-minute conditioning session, so please take a look if you are interested.
